Demotion ...

So, last week Eric comes home and tells me he is switching jobs and he will get a new office. He will be working at the barracks. I guess the other guy wasn't doing his job properly and they wanted Eric to fix things. He was all excited because they told him he would be the dept. head and this would look good on his fit rep{i'm guessing that this is his eval}and would help him get a star. He kept telling me he didn't care if he made senior chief or not because he was going to retire in a year and a half. I was like ok, whatever, but I knew he wanted to make senior and possibly stay in longer. If he doesn't make it before retirement he will have to get out because he will have 24 years in and can't stay in any longer. Anyway, he comes home on Monday and tells me that the captain restructed everything and that taking this job means a demotion. He said it won't look good on his fit rep and he will never put that star on now. He was up all night worrying and thinking about this. He finally has a meeting with everyone involved and they tell him that he needs to take this job because they don't have anyone else for it. He tells the senior chief that it won't look good on his fit rep! Senior tells him he never thought of that but there is nothing he can do about it since the captain restructed everything....gggrrrr. I guess Eric is fine with it now, he has been busy all week getting ready for this turn over. Now Eric is going from division officer to I don't even know what his job title is now...lol I guess just plain old Chief...lol
